    08-14-2005 21:47

The A’s won their final two games of the season, ending the regular season with a 4-9 record. Their record matches the number of wins collected in the 2005 season. The A’s third win came after the opposing team was disqualified for altering their batting order. The fourth win came after the game was called due to weather.

The A’s now turn their attention to the postseason, which is only a few days away.

    Photography Update
    08-08-2005 13:43

A-WOL, the team’s photographer, would like to announce that a new camera has been purchased. The new camera is capable of 5.5X zoom and has a resolution of 2 Mega pixels. This camera was purchased after the team’s old camera, an old Intel webcam with 0.25 Mega pixels of resolution, malfunctioned. Expect to see better, crisper images on the team’s website as a result!

Test trials for the new camera will be done at Game 13.

“The Dean” out for Remainder of Season
    08-08-2005 11:15

At a press conference, Dean Harrison, AKA “The Dean”, has announced that he will be out for the remainder of the season. According to his latest medical examination, he has contracted the “vacation” bug and will need to take the remainder of the month of August off in sunny Florida to recover. We wish him a speedy recovery.

The first baseman / outfielder lead the team in slugging percentage in 2004.

A-WOL Placed on DL - Return Questioned
    08-08-2005 10:42

Team skipper A-WOL has been place on the DL due to a right hand injury suffered in Game 13. In an attempt to field a ground ball at third, the ball deflected off of A-WOL’s glove and jammed the tips of the fingers on his right hand. A-WOL was taken out of defensive duty for the remainder of the game but managed to score a hit in the 7th.

While an MRI showed not damage to the bones on his hand, there was swelling in on of the stricken fingers. A-WOL was placed on the DL after noting continuing pain in on of the fingers. His return to normal fielding duty in time for the playoffs is questionable.

    A-WOL Placed on DL
    07-18-2005 11:22

A-WOL has been placed on the DL due to a shin injury. The injury occurred in Game 9 against The Depot as a wild throw to home plate went into the A’s dugout and hit A-WOL on the on-deck circle. He’s status is day to day.

When asked about the injury, Ron, the league’s chief umpire said “Do I have to hear about this [injury] for the rest of the season?”

A’s Win Second Game of the Season
    07-18-2005 11:21

With many A’s players chased away due to the weather, the team was able to round-up some unlikely last minute recruits to play the game. On the roster were archrivals Elena and her friends Rene and Jackie, who have batten around the A’s and given A’s pitching grief this season and last season at the Complex. Also in the line-up was veteran league player Walter who was passed-up earlier in the season, and Bud Hall, the same guy in which the league is named after.

The A’s offense was on fire, netting 33 runs off of 47 hits. The defense was just as powerful, yielding 4 shut-out innings. In the end, the Depot had little chance against such an all-star line-up as the A’s won their second game of the season, 33-7. Rick Palma gets his first win of the 2005 season while A-WOL gets his first career save.

A's Win First Game of the Season
    07-12-2005 13:57

The A's picked-up their first win at Game 8, defeating a team comprized partically of fellow team members. The A’s offense was on fire, scoring 25 runs off of 30 hits. The A’s batters and runners were able to maximize the number of extra bases gained and capitalized heavily on fielding mistakes made by GD-Crew.

The A’s defense looked sharp and limited GD-Crew to just 3 runs after 4 innings. However, the defensive unit eventually became fatigued and GD-Crew capitalized on it by scoring 11 runs in the 5th.

Regardless, it was not enough to overcome the A’s huge lead as the A’s picked-up their first regular season win since June 30, 2004 by a score of 25-14. Annie picks-up the win for her pitching performance.
